Antimicrobial film provides exceptional surface protection from microbes, mold, mildew, odor-causing bacteria and fungus.

Applied to surfaces such as countertops and other potentially vulnerable locations, it can help prevent the spread of disease and infection. This film also protects the underlying surface from the degradation commonly caused by microorganism growth. In addition to inhibiting the growth of contaminants, this protective film provides impact resistance and improves clarity on touchscreens and electronics surfaces.

Pro Tint Utah offers this powerful and effective surface protection product for personal and commercial customers in the Salt Lake City area and throughout northern Utah.

What Is Antimicrobial Film?

Pro Tint Utah uses X-PEL RX. This product is a patented medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane film. It is self-adhesive with a long lifespan. The manufacturer warranties this product for two years in the commercial setting and five years under personal or residential use.

To provide antimicrobial properties, his product is surface treated with a fungistatic agent to prohibit fungal growth. This film also leverages Silver Seal™ (silver ion) technology to prohibit the growth of microbes including bacteria, yeast, mold and more.

Its pressure-sensitive adhesive is appropriate for use on a variety of surfaces including stainless steel, glass, acrylic and non-porous plastics. It is resistant to cracking, yellowing and delaminating.

How Effective Is Antimicrobial Film?

When tested in a laboratory setting, X-PEL RX film proved to be highly effective at resisting the growth of contaminants such as E. coli (Escherichia coli) and staph (Staphylococcus aureus).

Researchers applied both contaminants to the surface of X-PEL antimicrobial film. Researchers tested the surface immediately after application and then again after 24 hours. After 24 hours, the antimicrobial surface had eliminated 99.97% of staph and 63.9% of E. coli.

In addition, X-PEL RX provides protection against scratches, cracks and impact damage.

Antimicrobial Film Applications & Uses

This protective barrier can be used in a wide variety of commercial and residential applications.

Commonly, X-PEL is used on electronics screens, including computer monitors, laptop screens, tablets and smartphones. It provides additional protection in the form of impact protection while also improving screen visibility and clarity.

This product can be used in a variety of commercial and medical settings. Some common applications include coating the surfaces of medical devices and products, packaging, ID and access cards and various building materials. As a testament to its effectiveness, this material is commonly used in the cleanroom setting.
